Founding President

Founded this not for profit, 125 member association whose mission is to foster the sustainable development of wellness travel on Hawaii Island. Membership development, strategic planning, production of web page, electronic newsletter, collateral materials and producing annual conferences. Conducted public and media relations, organized board and membership meetings, grant writer, fund-raiser and Chair of Big Island Visitors Bureau 2008 Spa and Wellness Tourism Marketing Committee.

Hawaii Ecotourism Association, 1995-1997

Founding President

Founded the Hawaii Ecotourism Association, a non-profit, educational membership organization whose mission is to protect Hawaii’s unique environment and culture through responsible travel.  Development of membership, collateral, by-laws, publicity, ecotourism standards and guidelines, website, newsletter.  Membership is estimated at 100 active members.

New Millennium Institute, 1996-2004

Educational Director

Developed and operated a non-profit educational retreat center in Kamuela, Hawaii.  Organized week-long, adult educational retreats with visiting scholars-in-residence.  All aspects of planning from scholar selection, to marketing and communications, curriculum development, tours, and lecture/program schedule.  Coordinated public lectures in conjunction with Parker School Community Education.

Twice Blessed Thrift Store, 2010 - 2013

Manager

Oversaw the opening and expansion of a new thrift store at Unity Church of Hawaii.  Renovated existing space into retail show room.  Set policy for receiving donations, store hours, pricing and inventory.  Manage overall operations including volunteer staffing and training, promotions, special events, fashion shows.  Created website.  www.TwiceBlessedThriftStore.org

Thrift Store: The Musical

Producer, Playwright and Songwriter

This musical comedy will hit the stage in March 2014.

The 90 minute, two-act play is currently under development.  It includes nine original songs and tells the tale of a local neighborhood thrift store.  People come in looking for a bargain, but what they find is an experience that is truly rich.
